This Maddock movie is a mock tail of all the good elements you would want to see - horror, comedy, romantic and social satire. It is the movie to watch out for a well spent weekend. 😊

The plot is simple - despite its flaws is a fresh direction.

The city of Chanderi in Madhya Pradhesh is gripped in the fear of  'Stree' during a four day festive season. 'Stree' haunts the city of Chanderi, where she lures and whisks away the men of Chanderi, leaving just their clothes behind.πŸ˜†

The city is unknown to the reason of this behavior. But she has a pattern which she follows - she would first call the men with their name, if they stop and look behind, zooop they would be taken away by her in a split of a second and no one knows where. And voila they are gone forever....πŸ˜“

Worry not, like every problem has a resolve, even this has a jugaad. We Indians, are known for this - aren't we?!😝
To ward off  'Stree' who by all means is an educated lady, 😁 whenever sees the message "Stree kal ana" on walls and doors of the houses, doesn't come to the house to pick the men. Seriously?! 😳

It is rhetorical , where few scenes from the movie depict a very common reverse scenario in India - where the men of the house urge the women to be back early to protect them, and women advice them to stay indoors and keep the doors locked. πŸ˜‚

Come in the plot, Rajkumar Rao aka Vicky, is this extraordinary tailor in the town known as the 'Chanderi ka Manish Malhotra' - can measure a girl by just looking at her.

With a talent like this, the man happens to fall in love with a nameless pretty girl aka Shraddha Kapoor. She happens to visit the city only during this festive season.

Blinded by love and lust Vicky fails to realize the weirdness of the situation - head over heels he would do anything for this woman - a woman who requests for weird things, a woman who has been seen by none, a woman who appears only during the festive season.

Can a story like this survive without backing of friends - this is where his best friends come to the rescue.

And the story unfolds bit by bit...gripping you!

Shraddha Kapoor has portrayed the role fairly - her cuteness factor makes it difficult and sometimes overpowers the serious role she has tried to portray.
The best friends played by Bittu, Jana - Aparshakti Khurana, Abhishek Banerjee have fully justified the roles. The overpowered Jana in the second half is a treat to watch. πŸ‘

The dialogues of the movie are its biggest asset and not to forget Rudra Bhaiya apne Pankaj Tripathi, who adds the needed pinch to the sharp dialogues, is impeccable with his timing.

Amar Kaushik, the director has done a fabulous job in maintaining the fear and the laughter quotient in the movie. Not a fan of horror movies, yet this movie was just the perfect dish for me with the addition of comedy.

Rajkumar won me over with his extraordinary acting skills - his comic sense is to die for.

The movie being in its genre, tries to draws attention to this male dominated world - who to quite an extent do not respect woman. What actually led 'Stree' to be on this spree?! It throws some light to the misogynist world.

The second half might seem a bit too stretched, with a few things unexplained - but to be expecting logic of this genre would be hypocrisy. 😰

If you want to have fun filled two or more hours - go watch the movie. Horror comedy not being very common - this is a movie to lookout for.

Not sure about the authenticity of the source, but came across an article which said that there have been such incidents reported in the past, in the city of Bengaluru. Before the city became the cyber hub, there used to be an evil witch who would take away the men of the house. To ward her off, the folks started writing the message "Nale ba", on their doors.Apparently, there are still few houses which have these messages written. Spooky isn't it?!😢

Entertaining movie, giving you splits of laughter with hints of fear - with the mysterious girl remaining unnamed till the end. πŸ˜•
