Wanderlust Tales : Dubai Diaries - The Jebel Hafeet Mountain, Al Ain

DAY 4

Jebel Hafeet Mountain - is a mountain located in Al Ain region in UAE. A part of it shares borders with Oman, but major portion of the mountain lie in UAE itself.

By the way,Al Ain is also known as the Garden City Of UAE - it is blessed with lush greenery compared to the other parts of UAE. All through the way, I was shooting fun videos of greenery spread around with a dessert backdrop. πŸ˜ƒ

Hafeet in Arabic means empty mountain.
It was surprising when my phone with a Jio Network was showing Oman mobile network, while we were atop. 😏

Plan a full day trip and have a fun day!

DUBAI DIARIES:

TIMING:

There are no specific timings as such - but definitely the evening hours would be more suitable.

HOW TO GET HERE:

There is a direct connectivity from Dubai to Al Ain It lies at a driving distance of about 180 kms.

To drive up here, it would approximately take you 1.5 hrs to 2 hrs.

ADDRESS:

Jebel Hafeet, Al Ain

Abu Dhabi, UAE

FAMOUS FOR:

It was here that parts of the BOLLYWOOD movie Race were shot.

JEBEL HAFEET MOUNTAIN:

Jebel Hafeet Mountain is a 26 km long and 4-5 km wide extending from North to South. It is a fully barren rocky mountain at an elevation of 1,249 m - it is a feat to see how roads have been carved to the mountain. One can only imagine the hard work and engineering skills needed to achieve this, which was way back in the 1980s.

And trust me it just takes about 45 minutes to reach the top and the roads are just flawless to drive through - zoops through.

It is a bylane - with almost 21 turns including hairpin bends.

Just read over the net, it is one of the greatest driving roads in the UAE. Google Maps would give you apt view of the roads. 😈
It is from here that you can see the city of Al Ain - literally built in the hold of dessert land.

The color of the land is baffling.
They have built various stopovers as you drive up on the Hafeet Mountain Road - for one to enjoy the view of the city. The 360 degree view - but mind that during afternoon hours it is sooooo hot, that you can barely come out for about 10 minutes maximum, post which you would sweat profusely. πŸ˜“
I was astonished to see biker's here, cycling all the way - the steep mountain, requiring a hell lot of endurance and the heat is a killer. Gawwd....

It is a journey worth the view. 😍

These mighty mountains literally trickle the heat down your spine - look at the texture.πŸ˜“
That was the slight patch of greenery we saw in the vicinity of the mountain.
And money is not something people are in short of - there is private property up here, with the Sheikhs building huge mansions here - some say it is the rulers palace.
And fret not, at such height they have not let you barren literally. There are various points to sit by and relax - which is impossible unless it dawns.
You will find many folks BBQ-ing.
There is one eatery shop, which is heavily crowded. There are refreshment rooms up here - so all that is taken care of.
There is a mini kid zone too with swings and slides.

Look at the roads on the phone:
