Gluttony Diaries : Caraway Kitchen, Conrad Bengaluru

This was an accidental visit to the restaurant after the initial plan to dine at the Indian Durbar backfired - since they are open only for dinner. And surprisingly when we asked our way to the restaurant, the staff just redirected us there, without intimating that it is open only for dinner. 🀦🏻‍♀️🀣

WHAT I TRIED:

Overall the food was good, but I would say it failed to impress - the vegetarians options seemed quite limited. πŸ™ƒ
The spread varied from Indian, Asian and Italian and their respective live counters.

The BEETROOT CHAAP was good, but tad dry.
The COTTAGE CHEESE IN CHILLI and GARLIC SAUCE was good.
The CHICKEN IN OYSTER SAUCE was quite average.

I think it was the CHAAT COUNTER that saved the day, the SAMOSA CHAAT and the PANI PURI were really good with the right hint of tangy-ness and sweetness. Kudos to the lady chef there. Extra points on the plating portion, which was just right amount that you would want to have in a buffet spread.

I was quite apprehensive to try The CHICKEN MUSHROOM SOUP, but to my surprise it was amazing.
The NOODLES were really well done and delicious - I think this was the only dish in the buffet for which I went in for the second serving. 😝And the variety of sauces in the spread were worth a try.
The CHICKEN BIRYANI was good, could have been better if I could just lay my hands on some chicken chunks/pieces as wellπŸ˜‚ - but for some reason, it was quite a hunt for chicken chunks/pieces in the serving bowl. 😁
The PANEER HARA PYAAZ was a good addition with the biryani.

The ALFREDO PASTA was a a let down - it was sad to waste a plate full but the pasta was really not done well - it was way too al dente if I may say.

Now coming to the dessert spread - a buffet for me is defined by the quality and quantity of the dessert spread 😁 - yeah yeah that's atypical me!!πŸ™ˆSo I was in for a slight disappointed with the spread.

The cut fruits had a pungent smell not sure why.
There were three varieties in ICE CREAMS - vanilla, chocolate, butter scotch. But no provision for any toppings like chocolate chip chunks, sauces etc.🀷🏻‍♀️
Oh the GAJAR KA HALWA was delicious and had that ek dum majedar flavours.
The CHOCOLATE BARFI was toothsome.
The KALAKAND was okay-ish.
The BERRY PANNACOTTA a big no!
The CAKE was delicately crafted and I loved the chocolate savings atop and the creamy base.

There are no juices as part of the buffet. They had pancakes and waffles section for a lunch buffet - not sure I understand why though.

Although Zomato shows a ala carte menu - but they said no ala carte option available. πŸ™ƒ

AMBIANCE:

The ambiance of the restaurant is good with light music playing in the background. The place is spacious, well lit and I loved the grill separators - added to the decor of the place.

For some reason, the food at the counter didn't seem hot. An effort has to be made to clean the counters and organise(ladles, spoons, pots) frequently - this was quite annoying, especially the Indian section.

The service in the beginning was laid back - eventually they became attentive.

My verdict - 3/5
