Food anatomization : Toscano, UB City - Bangalore

A quirky Italian place tucked in a corner of the food court of UB city - this place screams awesomeness!!

It has a beautifully shaded alfresco seating and an indoor seating as well. It can easily accommodate about 50 odd people. The place is quite spread out.
We were here for a family celebration for Christmas - and all the Christmas decorations were in place.
The chairs were wrapped in a red bow ribbon with scented candles on the table - a perfect table seating. The roof was adorned with long red, green bandanas - gave a total Christmas feel.
A pretty Christmas tree right at the mini staircase and a couple of Christmas goodies on display were a perfect welcome.
The eye catchy piece of the room was the glass enclosure with the wine bottles stacked in the racks horizontally - exquisite.
The walls were placed with blackboards with the wine bottles placed in racks and their respective pricing chalked besides it.
The were quite a number of hanging blackboards - some with interesting one liners and others with Toscano's must try-s mentioned.

For starters we were served with bread slices with olive oil and a dip - the bread slices were a tad bit dry, though the dip was an interesting mix.
Started our food ordering venture with the GARLIC BREAD WITH CHEESE - loaded cheese draped on the face of the garlic bread adorned with olives, sun dried tomatoes and seasoning. I specially loved the thick layer of cheese.
An Italian place and you can't resist yourself from ordering in the the pizzas. πŸ‘½ From the vegetarian options, we ordered for the VERDURE - this was freshly made thin crust pizza perfectly baked with tomato sauce and mozzarella cheese with add ons like the artichokes, olives, zucchini, bell peppers, onions, spinach sans carrots. The pizza was about good - moreeeee cheese is was what I would have liked. 😝 Appreciate the plenty of add ons but lacked little flavour.
From the non vegetarian pizza section we opted for the BBQ CHICKEN - it had the perfectly cooked tender and juicy BBQ chicken chunks, jalapenos sans the pineapples. Loved every bite of this pizza, BBQ chicken topped on the pizza - a lethal combination. This pizza too was a freshly made thin crust pizza with tomato sauce and mozzarella cheese. Simple, perfectly baked and delicious.
Any day I would prefer the BBQ CHICKEN pizza over the VERDURE.

For mocktails we ordered for the  SMOOTHIE - PASSIONFRUIT - thick, milky and fruity - amazing.
The GREEN GODDESS was a mix of basil, mint, lime and ice cubes. Toooo green and leafy - yet refreshing!!

I couldn't await my excitement for the desserts - and my my how can I vouch for how amazing they were?!
I was bowled over - totally toothsome and decadent.
The RED VELVET CAKE WITH CREAM CHEESE FROSTING and CREME ANGLAISE with a scoop of vanilla ice-cream.Never have I had such an artistic looking dessert ever - almost like the desserts we see in the masterchef series. It had an impressive plating with the cocoa dusting, chocolate sauce drippings, red sauce and beautiful thin laces of chocolate. The cake was layered in a cream cheese frosting and it was rich, smooth and moist - melted smoothly in the mouth.Top-notch!!
The CHOCOLATE KAHLUA MOUSSE was ooo-lalala... It was served in a crispy thin delicately curved biscuit made with almonds. The creme anglaise which is a custard kind of syrup was used as the sauce base for the chocolate fondant. The creme anglaise had artistic patterns done on it with chocolate syrup - such precision man it was mind blowing. The fondant was creamy, luscious, chocolate-y and was dusted with icing sugar. The texture was perfect. The CHOCOLATE KAHLUA MOUSSE is among Tosacano's must try desserts. It is a signature dish and totally sinful. πŸ˜‰
The desserts were truly an experience.

Albeit the service was heavily lagged - they were not able to handle the guests aptly. They were busy serving the bigger tables with more guests - and what about us?! 😏
Our table was not even setup properly - when we finished our dinner, the server placed the scented candle on the table. Should I say lol?! They gave us a table which was not setup properly whereas the table beside was perfectly setup and was not even reserved for anyone! Sad....

Also I noticed that the dishes were priced high just for their festive menu. I did not understand the funda of having different prices for the same dishes just for their festive menu. At least the dishes I had were also available in the regular menu and all the dishes were priced significantly higher than the usual in their festive menu.

The place was jam packed with people.

Slow service and the mysterious case of the high prices in their festive menu are the sole reason for a lower rating, than what I would have actually given Toscano!
