Food anatomization: Garwa Garden Family Restaurant & Bar, Hadapsar - Pune

We wanted to go on a long drive hence stumbled on this place - the route is via the ghats contributes to a beautiful sight of city especially during the night - the city all lighted up.

The road to the place is quite dark - but you would find a sign board to guide you. It is easily noticeable from a distance too.
The place is widely spread out with ample parking lots for 4 wheeler and 2 wheelers.

The restaurant has varied seating arrangements - alfresco seating and the AC dining hall. Since it was little late, the staff insisted we seat ourselves in the AC dining hall. The interiors were done very simplistically with just the white walls and the red sofa. The hall can accommodate about 30 or so guests easily. The linen on the tables were not so clean yet....

The restaurant serves an array of dishes varying from Chinese,South Indian to North Indian.

Wasting no time, before the kitchen would close, we plunged to order for a couple of starters.
Started with PANEER HARIYALI TIKKA - paneer sandwiched between extra tandoor-ed tomato slices and capsicum. This was a tad bit more tandoor-ed, which attributed to burnt flavours flowing in. But the paneer was well done, soft and flavoursome with the green chutney heavily applied on the paneer slices.
The TANDOORI CHICKEN - again a one step ahead in the extra trandoor-ing which led the sides to be heavily burnt. Literally there was the black dust on our hands as we gorged through the chicken. Albeit the leftover unburnt chicken was tender and well spiced. It was really hot - especially the coleslaw and the green chutney accompanying the tandoor-ed chicken. It came this close to impress us - just for a bit, you lost on it Garwa!!
For some strange reason - they did have a lot of affinity for pudina leaves - the starters were garnished abundantly with those.
The starters itself were a long wait hence we left no stone unturned to order the dishes for the main course without any delay.
Main course was tandoori roti with the CHICKEN HANDI - this was again super spicy and hot. But there was something about the way the masala was done which imparted to the dish having not very good flavours. It was about so-so.
On the other hand the vegetarian picks did have stunning flavours - I was wow-ed!!
The PANEER KHAZANA was beautifully concepted dish with cooked paneer bhurji stuffed in a very delicate soft layer which was finally cooked in a sea of lip-smacking gravy. This was really a brilliant dish - if they had work little on the presentation, this would have deemed to be the stellar dish of the evening.
The VEG BASKET was savoury with loads of cut veggies - a tad bit hot, spicy yet impeccable. It was actually garnished with loads of slits of green chilies, cucumber slices and crushed pieces of fried papads. Wohooo green chilies.....tikhaaa!!πŸ‘
And the main course were garnished with slices of cucumber, slit chillies and cream. It was a pattern of garnishing for the starters or main course or just a coincidence. 😜

The service is little slow - takes quite some time to place the order on the table. The servers are well mannered and catered to the guests well, missing few serving etiquettes though!

People were pouring in here even quite late for food. The place is more like a dhaba place with lot of regulars, travellers dining in - you can expect all types of crowd here.

A second visit to the restaurant and sadly it turned out to be a heavy disappointment.
We ordered for the ANGARA KEBAB - I think since the dish was not freshly prepared the chicken pieces were not tender and were also chewy, difficult to get through. To top it the seasonings made the kebab extra salty!
Next was the POMFRET FRY - well attempted, loved the soft succulent fish meat, oil fried in a slight crispy batter. The dish was savoury.
The BANGADA CURRY had way too much salt yet again. Salt killed the taste - albeit it would have qualified as a distinct dish sans the extra SALT. It had tadka of mustard seeds and curry leaves.
For some strange reason the dishes seemed to have more than legit salt needed. πŸ˜’
This trip was a no-no!!
