Food anatomization : Deccan Harvest, Magarpatta - Pune
Staying in
Magarpatta, probably many a times we give a miss to visiting this place. Most
of the times I have visited this place, is for team lunch/dinner.
So, this time as well, I was here on a team
lunch yet again.
We were a group of around 15 people.
First, it was really hot, in spite of them
having the coolers running.
Inside the restaurant, they have two floors-
one on the ground floor which is more like a formal seating arrangement and
upstairs they have the low level sofas.
But they suggested we sit downstairs since it
gets really hot upstairs.
There is really no dΓ©cor to mention about. It
is just the shape of the restaurant that intensifies its beauty.
It's location is an added advantage.
We ordered quite some dishes in veg and non
veg.
For starters we had the TANDOORI CHICKEN - it
was about ok, to my despair it wasn't even served hot enough.
Then we had the SALT N PEPPER MUSHROOMS - it
was among the fabulous dishes that I have had in mushrooms. I have
not had anything like it before - Really awesome. Tossed and coated mushrooms -
yummy!
Then we had some CHICKEN KEBABS - tasty.
Jumping to the main course, we ordered for the
GARLIC BUTTER NANA. The nan was really awesome, loved it totally. Along with
it, we had the CHICKEN TIKKA MASALA - which was really quite an average dish. A
standard dish, whose preparation must be really good - but it didn't really
live up to the expectations.
Next we ordered for the CHICKEN RAHARA- again a
dish with orange gravy. It was a good dish - rich in spices and a good
preparation.
Oh, yeah I also tried the CHILLS AND PILLS
MOCKTAIL - it was pretty refreshing - an enhanced version of lime soda - with
khus, soda, sprite. Just loved the greenish color of the drink!
And finally we ended our lunch, with the
yummylicious KULFI - absolutely divine. Obviously, the heat attributed to its
taste, but none the less - really recommended the dessert .:)

Late at office and this being the nearest
restaurant - just opposite to our tower - yet another visit here.
So this time we ordered for the sizzlers - I
had the COTTAGE CHEESE SIZZLER - a combination of rice, cottage cheese,
French fries and assortment of few veggies like
carrots-beans-broccoli! There was a different kind of sauce(paprika sauce)
spread over the cottage cheese completely - I was not very sure the kind of
flavors it was imparting.
In all just a good, stomach filing sizzler -
albeit I did not find it tasty enough.
On the other hand, the JAMAICAN SIZZLER was far
better - it was also assortment of chicken cutlet along with French fries, few
veggies and rice. It was quite appreciated by my friend.
So non veg sizzler had an edge over the veg
sizzler.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The staff was cordial, they helped us with
choosing the dishes.
But sadly, the service was pretty slow.
Literally, we had to ask for everything. Also, I would like to mention, they
didn't even serve us with mouth fresheners/sauf at the end of our meal, I had
to go and ask for it. This should usually be given along the bill.
Quite basic etiquette!!

A revamped Deccan Harvest - the interiors and exteriors have been done newly. The alfresco seating was done prettily, and the white touch to the furniture and the show pieces added to the dΓ©cor of the place. The interiors remain the same - with the architecture of the place being the center of attraction. :)
The menu is quite mixed - Mexican, Indian,
Italian.
Coming to the food -
Started with the BLUE HEAVEN drink - refreshing
drink.
Starters we had the CHEESE GARLIC BREAD - soft
bread and loaded with cheese.
MURG KALMI KEBAB - Tender chicken legs
tandoor-ed to perfection. Awesome.
MURG RAHARA - minced succulent chicken pieces
cooked in thick rich gravy - delicious.
MURG DHOBA - green gravy in the bottom and the
rich orange flavors on the top - amazing mixtures of the gravy textures. But
for me the murg rahara won over the murg dhoba. :)
The service is pretty time consuming - for our
lunch it was almost more than 2 hours till the time we left.
The staff is courteous and welcoming.
