Food anatomization : Bubba Gump Shrimp Co., Chicago
The Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. is highly, no highly would be an understatement - it is totally inspired by the movie Forrest Gump and specializes in sea food delicacies. 😊I can vouch this would stand for one of the best places to gorge on seafood delicacies here.
Was here on a crowded Sunday weekend - the reservation had a wait time of about 15 minutes. The lady at the front desk took up our details, and once the table is ready - we got an SMS that our table was ready! Indeed a time savior....
As you enter the first thing you would notice is the retail shop - this for all the fans of the movie Forrest Gump to pick up items which please them.
Although I haven't seen the movie Forrest Gump - I know, I know you could shoot me for that, but I loved every bit of the decor!!
The place is beautifully and heavily decorated with stuff revolving around the instances from the movie - loads of wall posters and interesting wall decor pieces placed over the extended racks or just hung over.The one-liners have been evaluated and picked up carefully from the movie which is truly thought-provoking. 😊
Coming to the seating space - their indoor seating is divided into the casual dining space with comfortable sofa/lounge seating. And the high rise bar stools put up across the bar counter tops.
The sign boards "Run Forrest run" and "Stop Forrest Stop" placed on your table are the star of the evening. I don' think I need to explain it hence full points for guessing the purpose. 😎
It is interesting how the subtle things from the movie have been used extensively in the decor of the place as well in the plating of the food. They do have wall TVs mounted playing matches and one which specifically was playing the movie - Forrest Gump.
My first time into devouring on shrimps - and I wonder why didn't I ever have it earlier.

We started with the JUMBO PORTION SHRIMPER'S NET IN CAJUN SPICE - loved the way it was plated, in the typical balti poured out on a newspaper. :P The shrimps are apparently steamed in beer - total masterpiece with having been cooked to a high level of perfection with an incredible jumble of spices. I was totally bowled over.
The MAMA GUMP'S GARLIC BREAD BASKET - two long pieces of absolutely soft fluffy garlic bread with loads of butter and hints of garlic.
And the finale was with the FORREST'S SEAFOOD FEST - an assortment of the fried fish, fried crumbly shrimps, and crispy finger chips - served along with homemade dipping sauces.This is apparently the guest's best choice dish. The crispy-ness is something that really gets onto you, leaving you yearning for more. Juicy pieces of tender seafood meat inside the crumbly outside. In a desi style, I can say - ek dum mind-boggling-ly phadu! :D
In all, heaven for the seafood lovers.
The staff is quite enthusiastic and helpful - take utmost care of the guests.
They have a fantastic jingle sung for all the birthday fellas - highly interesting!
And now I am off to see the movie! 😍
