Food anatomization : Chili's Grill & Bar, Champaign
Chili's is a popular food chain featuring Tex-Mex cuisine - it was conceptualized to promote casual dining style with a full service restaurant boasting of fun and laid back atmosphere.
This one is located on the North Prospect Avenue street, located across the busy long roads of Champaign. With sign boards placed - it is easy to locate and make your way here.
The restaurant was heavily crowded with people gushing through.
The seating arrangements are divided - with the informal seating by the bar and the comfortable sofa seating. Each table has a small tablet - which can be used for entertainment purposes and kill your time till the food is on the table. They have mounted couple of television on the walls - which are screening the matches. There are interesting picture wall posters. The place is well lighted - ambiance I would say is trendy!
The staff is very courteous, accommodating and friendly. They take utmost care of the needs of the table.
The food order started with the combo meal of two entrees - the MARGARITA GRILLED CHICKEN and ANCHO SALMON COMBO along with sides of mashed potatoes and french fries. And the MARGARITA GRILLED CHICKEN and the SHRIMPS COMBO along with sides of mashed potatoes and french fries.
The MARGARITA GRILLED CHICKEN was margarita marinated grilled chicken breast piece and drizzled with chopped tomatoes and cilantro - I would say, in all it was well cooked albeit seemed little bland.
Comparatively, the ANCHO SALMON was cooked to perfection,tender and flawless.The salmon was drizzled with chile sauce and additionally topped with chopped cilantro.
I tried the SHRIMPS from the other combo - they had a definite kick of flavors. It came close to impress with its flavors.
The mashed potatoes - would have been better with a dash of butter in it. The french fries were commendable, no doubt about it.
The dish was beautifully plated - looked like one compact meal.
