Wanderlust Tales : Bhigwan bird watching - Flamingos!

BHIGWAN BIRD WATCHING:

From the cottage, we drove for about a kilometer to reach to near the banks of the backwater from the Ujjaini Dam. The temperature is the key factor to the place being a home for the migratory birds.

The boat ride cost us Rs.800/- for 5 people. As we set into the boat, we sailed through the pristine waters. Water, sun, and birds - just perfect weekend set up.😎

The boatman took us nearer to the spot where the birds were standing peacefully. As we neared, to avoid the birds being wary of our presence - he shut down the motor and started rowing instead - this helped us get a closer look at the birds. The minute the birds sense a foreign presence even close by - they just fly high in the sky. A sad moment yet a gracious one - seeing the birds in colors of white and saffron just warding off.

There are a variety of bird kinds you would spot here - but since my knowledge about birds quantifies to 0 - hence I am not attempting that genre. 😁

Do make sure to carry a high coverage lens - I had the 55-135 mm lens and pictures didn't appeal us. Our boatman had the proper lens for capturing the beauty of these birds - few of the last pictures without my watermark have been taken by the boatman - who was kind enough to share the pictures with us.

Technology is the key - question was how do we get the photos from the boatman, with no laptop. Well, my camera is a genius with built in WiFi capabilities.  We put his SD card in my Canon T6 rebel, connected the camera to the WiFi. Next with the help of the Canon app on the phone, we synced all the pictures to the phone. Things just couldn't get any better. and easier too.😜😝

DO'S:

- carry water and snack items
- sunscreen
- head/eyewear
- wear shoes comfortable in water

Soon after, we headed back. It took us about 2 hours.

Without a doubt it is a photographer's paradise  - try to reach here in early mornings to see the fisherman with their fresh catch for the day.
