Wanderlust Tales : Sri Venkateswara Temple, Aurora - Chicago

We started our Chicago brahaman with this temple at Aurora, which is dedicated to Sri Venkateswara.

The temple is spread over 20 acres of land with a huge parking lot. It is nice to see that the plants and flowers are in abundance here. It also has a small man-made pond with fountains.

The architecture of the temple is a blend of the shilp shastra and modern architecture. The noticeable piece is the elephant, chakra and the rath carved in the walls right at the entrance - it imparts a special vibe, which makes you feel calm and composed. It also makes you feel home - closer to your country.

The deities are beautifully adorned with silk clothes, flowers, and jewelry. It is nice to see how well the puja, aarti is being performed by adept Panditjis. The customs and tradition have been kept intact.

There is a huge cafeteria in the temple where they serve lip-smacking prasadam and quick South Indian snacks. It is very clean and hygiene.

The temple seemed well organized. During the time we were here, it was kind of crowded but everything was well managed from the queue and time perspective.

It was a pleasure to see a number of kids dressed up in traditional attire.

It is nice to see Videsh also deeming of such temples which helps Indians not disconnect with their culture, customs, and traditions. 😊
