Food anatomization : Yana Sizzlers & Wok, Kalyani Nagar - Pune
Yana Sizzlers is a well-known name in the genre of sizzlers in Pune, but I definitely cannot deem it as the best.
We were here for a team event.
The place is spread out, it can accommodate large groups of people. The place had about 15-20 tables on the floor - the seating by the wall had the cushioned sofas embedded on the wall while the others were the wooden table chair setup. The decor had prominent use of blue in it - specially textured tiles adorned on the walls.
As you enter, you would find a cartoon sketch depicting a dining hall covering the wall.
There was a small TV mounted on the wall - which was playing some old cricket and wrestling matches. There was a cute Buddha structure built in stone beneath it - loved it.
The place was well lit.
The other end of the room had the sauce counter and their open kitchen placed.
I loved the paper games on the table - word puzzle, tic to, cross word and find the shortest path - fun eh?!
We had a varied order ranging from delicacies in vegetarian and nonvegetarian sizzlers with cuisine ranging from Indian, Chinese to Malaysian.
The menu is indeed quite diverse - but a small description about each would have been of great ease!
Initially, I had opted for the combo sizzler meal - which as per the server included any chicken/lamb sizzler, a soup/aerated drink/lime soda and two scoops of ice cream. Prior to the reservation, we were told we could order anything from the non-vegetarian section in the combo meal - only to be disappointed to find out there would be no fish sizzlers included in the combo. Alas!!
So I settled for the MINI PRAWN MASALA SIZZLER with a choice of one sauce that was the hot chili sauce.
First to be served on the table was the MANCHOW SOUP - the soup was okay-ish, super hot I would say. With the addition of few sauces and the manchow crumbles, I managed to enhance the taste to suit my taste buds - yet a wee bit bland and a thinner consistency.
The Sizzler took quite a while to arrive on the table - and as it came - it just sizzled through. Siizzzzzzz......
Decked up on the sizzling plate was rice over which was the super hot and spicy mini prawn masala, with one side filled with yummy-licious finger chips and the other side with veggies like onions, peas, corn, beans, capsicum, and spinach.
I wouldn't deny the quantity on the sizzler was way too much for me to finish - I think it was impossible to finish even half of it.
But I loved every bite of my sizzler - loaded with tiny prawns, I absolutely gorged on them - the sizzler was delicious. The blend of spices, sauces, prawns, rice, and veggies was just the way I like it. Eating a small platter would not have killed the taste with monotony. - I wish they would offer small sized sizzlers too.
I tried the chicken from the CHICKEN KEBAB MASALA with HOT GARLIC SAUCE - so this was an Indianised version with similar contents minus the prawns masala plus the chicken cubes and an extra veggie of cauliflowers flooded in. It didn't find quite a fan following on the table. The chicken was tender, juicy yet lacked certain flavors.

Overall, with the range of sizzlers served - it was a mixed review - with some loving their sizzlers, with others not enjoying through that much.
An aerated drink or lime soda is a must with the sizzler, I opted for the sweet lime soda - perfectly made.
The KESAR PISTA ice cream was good - served with a chocolate stick and topped with a cherry.
The service is something that is little lagged - although they would do what we ask for - could sense a slight reluctance. The manager was pretty helpful with suggestions and he patiently took our order without any mix ups. Kudos!!
