Food anatomization : The Sassy Spoon, Koregaon Park - Pune

And finally I made it to the sassy place in the city after having ogled at the dozens of fabulous pictures floating on Instagram - my heart was absolutely set on them!

The girl gang at the office took to ring in some late celebrations post the worldwide celebrated Women's Day and the festive occasion of Holi.

Located on the bylanes of Lane 7 in Koregaon Park - the place has a huge parking lot with a valet parking.

Sassy Spoon has both indoor and outdoor seating arrangements. The outdoor seating is more like a patio seating with the European charm imbibed into it - loved the artificial extended balcony sort structure embossed on the walls.

The inside seating is a beauty - it screams pink, with the predominant use of the color heavily in their decor and furniture. They have the high rise bar table setup to the comfy sofa setup to the regular heavy wooden table-chair setup. The furniture brings out a floral feel yet class apart.

One would barely disagree on the highlights of the restaurant -
One is definitely the dapper contemporary designed Volkswagen bar, fully loaded with bottles placed in the cute wooden circular partitions on the wall.
Second is the winding staircase at one corner of the restaurant, leading to the shelves loaded with books. It was a sight of plain bliss - only if they would let us up there?! There must have been more than a hundred covers up there!!
And third were the colorful swinging mugs.
The strenuous effort put on the decor was clearly visible.

The decor transmits a level of warmth in totality.

The menu offers an extensive and varied mix from European, Mediterranean, South East Asian, Indian to the Srilankan Cuisine.

Settled, we dug our heads into the menu offered to us.
Started with the VERY BERRY KHATTA mocktail, it had us on the first sip - won the table in terms of the taste and fondness. Mulberries muddled with orange, grapes, the kala khatta syrup and crushed ice.Wohoo!! A perfect reminiscent of the childhood days, when we would slurp on the kala khatta relentlessly. And to add, they had an extra shot of the drink as an add on. The flavors of the drink would just make you want more - tangy yet sweet!

The PLUM SMASH GRANITA was a concoction of plum puree, mint, apple, and peach garnished with basil. Refreshing, had distinct flavors of each of the ingredients - but would stand a consolation against the very berry khatta.

First to be served on the table was CAJUN SPICED BUTTER GARLIC PRAWNS in a hot pan with a crusty french baguette. Fresh and savory prawns cooked in Cajun seasoning were little pieces of delight in a bed of spiced butter garlicky mixture.Impeccable!

BRUSCHETTA OF SMOKED EGGPLANT, CRISPY CHICKPEAS, and FRIED ONIONS was a pleasant surprise. Not a fan of eggplant, yet the combination was was a masterpiece served with lettuce salad and spring onion garnishings.

The NACHOS with QUESO, TOMATO SALSA, and CHIMICHURRI - the nachos were crispy, went well with the salsa and loads of queso. A slight addition of salt and it would have done wonders.

The BAKED LASAGNA of CREAMED LEEKS, MUSHROOM and SWEET POTATO and CHEDDAR with layers of cheese, lasagna sauce and creamed leeks, mushrooms and sweet potato was cheesy, rich and filling. There was a tad bit pungent taste in few bites, nonetheless, the mushrooms were delicious.

The VEG TAGINE of GRILLED VEGGIES, CHICKPEA, RAISINS, COCONUT AND HERBED COUSCOUS - had a very small portion of this. I did have couscous for the first time - seemed more like a semi-bigger version of semolina. Served in a bowl with one side filled with a gravy of grilled veggies and the other filled with couscous and over the top garnishings. With the goodness of veggies, it was a subtle yet innovative dish.

The TAMARIND AND CHILLI SPICED RAWAS WITH COCONUT RICE was garnished with spring onions, albeit I could barely find any hints of tangy-ness from tamarind. The chili spiked sauce served along really added to the flavors of the dish and balanced the taste. The fish - fresh, amazingly soft and cooked perfectly.

After the huge spread of drinks, bar bites and mains - did not want to miss the desserts which have been praised by innumerable foodies across the city.
We were suggested with the DARK CHOCOLATE AND BASIL FONDANT - as rightfully told by a gentleman suggesting us - the wait of 25 minutes will be accomplished in less than 25 seconds. And my my, the wait was totally worth it - worthwhile! Dark chocolate fondant with basil and white chocolate mixture oozing from within, when dug up with a scoop of extra delicious basil and pine nut ice cream was heavenly. You couldn't have possibly asked for more?! The matter of the fact is, when the dessert was served on the table I was reluctant as to is this the answer to my 25 minutes wait - and buoooy, I was proved classically wrong. Absolutely decadent and flawless.

The STICKY TOFFEE PUDDING - date and toffee pudding with caramel sauce all around it, served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and candied ginger. It looked and tasted equally sinfully gorgeous - was a pure indulgence and immensely satisfying. Toothsome.πŸ’“

The staff is courteous, helping with options to cheerfully visiting the table to know if everything is fine. Loved it. 😊

The place was bustling with people - housefull on a Wednesday afternoon - shows the affinity of the crowd towards the place.

A treat to my taste buds.
