Food anatomization : Ruchi Indian Cuisine, Overland Park - Kansas

Ruchi - an Indian restaurant in Overland Park. It is a few blocks away from the Sprint campus.

Located in a shopping complex, the place is bustling with people - heavily crowded I would say.

The restaurant specializes in Southern Indian food primarily. The ambiance of the place is dark, with about 11-12 odd tables placed in the room - a tad bit packed. There is a separate section befitting the bigger groups - but you would need to book prior. There are a couple of traditional Indian style paintings put up on the walls, and that pretty much speaks for the decor.

The food is set up at one end of the room. There was a wide array of dishes ranging from North Indian to South Indian-centric dishes.
The dishes of the day were -  for appetizers, they served from TANDOORI CHICKEN, CHICKEN 65, ALOO PAKORAS, ONION PAKORAS.  Then there were sides like the SALADS, RAITA, MANGO LASSI.The mains consisted of dishes ranging from MUSHROOM GRAVY, BUTTER CHICKEN, CHICKEN BIRYANI, TOMATO RICE, GOAT GRAVY, GOBHI MASALA, NAAN, BHATURA, IDLI, SAMBHAR, DOSA, CHUTNEY.The DESSERTS were the MANGO CAKE, BOMBAY HALWA and CHAI.

The TANDOORI CHICKEN was well made - I love tandoor-ed chicken and relatively based on the Indian cuisines served in the foreign lands, this one fared pretty well.
The CHICKEN65 - a spicy flavorsome chicken chunky dish. Yummy!
The ALOO PAKORAS and ONION PAKORAS were ice-cold - things like these HAVE to, rather MUST be kept piping hot, nevertheless not bad.
The BHATURA did not seem to be a bhatura at all - strangely weird.
The BUTTER CHICKEN - the gravy was darn thin - nooo, it stopped me right there from putting it on my plate. Surprisingly there were no paneer dishes for the vegetarians. πŸ˜” Why?!Kyun?!
The MUSHROOM GRAVY was a letdown -a definite lack of spices.
The CHICKEN BIRYANI was delicious - chicken and rice cooked to perfection, moist -  albeit it did lack the special aroma - but I can definitely live without it. πŸ˜›
The NAAN was fresh and really soft - loved it.
A desi restaurant in a foreign land not serving gulab jamun in the dessert in the buffet disappoints me heavily. 😯😲😢 The BOMBAY HALWA had evident aromatic traces of ghee - but not a fan of the dish itself though. Good. The MANGO CAKE was creamy and ultra soft.

The staff is really courteous and make sure to clear your plates each time.

I don't have very fine pictures of the place, couldn't manage clicks.
