Food tasting event : Box 8, Magarpatta City - Pune
Finally I got to lay my hands on the food from Box 8 - it
has been forever that I had been just thinking of ordering in from Box8.
When I got an invite from Ankush Goyal who is part of their core team to sample the food from Box 8 - no one was
more ecstatic than me. π
Looked down at their menu online β it was an extensive, organised and
fuller menu conceptualized on food being served in a box as one full meal.
They have divided their menu into sections of : All-in-1-meals,Pizza, 100% Natural Ice creams,Staples box,Biryani,Wraps,Sandwiches,Salads,Alacarte,Drinks and Desserts.
"So the idea of Box8 had come up from wondering why the likes
of McDonalds & Dominos haven't emerged from India. Box 8 is just trying to
be the answer- A Made in Indian chain for sumptuous Indian meals. A large urban
population in metro cities frequently eats outside, courtesy their lifestyle or
living away from family. And Box 8 intents to become a βgo toβ brand for this
set of customers.
Box 8 focuses in preparing food which is delicious, easy on the stomach and made from quality ingredients, allowing the consumers to order food frequently
Their mantra is: Serve what we love to eat.
They have a two fold intent, one is to offer the customers
different experience through different categories and second is to be a one
stop solution for a full course meal or for snacks:-
βAll in oneβ offers a wholesome Indian meal with a main
curry and a side curry along with rice or paratha and a dessert to compliment.
βBoxβ offers fusion of different indian delicacies like dal, Paneer, rice along
with Chatni, salad etc.
Wraps, sandwich and salads in many cases acts like evening
or late night snack.
Technology has helped Box 8 build platform between customers, delivery units, kitchen and vendors β which in turn has helped in seamless exchange of information, automated operations, and allowed them to take better, informed decisions."
Once the food arrived β which was loads of packages I must
say.;) First and foremost thing that I did was click a picture of all the boxes
with their lovely cute packaging and the interesting one liners on the packages.
The packaging of the food was very neat - everything lay intact, nothing spilt over!!
Coming to the verdict - I had ordered in for dinner the
following items:
CHICKEN MAHARAJA MEAL - It was a fusion of the DESI CHICKEN
IN SPICY CURRY, GRILLED KEBABS,DILLI CHOLE,RICE,SALAD and BROWNIE. The grilled
kebabs were good but lacked flavors I would say. The dilli chole was my
absolute favorite among-st all in the box. The rice based meal β chole combined
with rice βwaah!!
CHICKEN TIKKA BIRYANI - Tikka style chicken in a biryani, I
had a small portion of the biryani and I absolutely relished it. Albeit, it was
quite masaledar I would say - it can be reduced to a great extent. The chicken
chunks had been tikka-ed and cooked in an assortment of the biryani masala and
layered beautifully between the Basmati rice - the smell was sharp! It came with raita.
CHICKEN MUGHLAI - was a fusion of tandoor-ed pieces of
chicken in way too dark brown-ish colored gravy. There was something very
distinctive about all the masalas that were added in the chicken preparations
in this dish and the desi chicken in spicy curry in the chicken maharaja meal
that did not go quite well with me. It was a so-so dish.
TAWA PARATHA - loved the way they had been cut into them
into small pieces and parceled into the tiny disposable boxes.
CHOCO LAVA CAKE - recently I had seen few posts on Instagram
about their fabulous choco lava cake, it always amazes me to see how the
chocolate oozes out as you slice through the tiny wonder. Obviously due to its
similarity in name it totally draws its comparison to the choco lava cake from
Dominos. Alas apart from the appearance, it could not match up to its
counterpart in the taste ki duniya.
MASALA LEMONADE - a fresh drink to quench your thirst.
Really first of a kind where I found a bottled lemonade close to what one could
prepare at home. J
ICED TEA β nah, did not appeal me.
The service was prompt - yet Umesh who took my order had informed me well in hand there could be possible delays. I am fine with delays as long as they are notified ones. π
