Food anatomization : Lazeez, Viman Nagar - Pune
Lazeez β a restaurant tucked away on one corner on the busy streets of Viman
Nagar. It is easily noticeable among the many other restaurants open in the street.
They have seating arrangements
outside and on the 1st floor of the building. If you want to sit inside, the downside is you have to make your way
through those creepy staircase and you must be extra careful making your way up
or down.
Once on the 1st floor β there is the room with about 7-8 tables, all bustling with people and just the 2 servers who are unable to manage the immense crowd. They are either mixing the orders or have a delayed response time. But on the plus side you would not find the tables vacant for more than 2 minutes at any point of time - it always had quick grabbers.

Let me get things straight β the restaurant has no dΓ©cor whatsoever, you will just see a feeble effort to put the lights in a decorative
lamp piece thatβs it. The artificial roofing could be made a little more
higher to help the taller guys and the claustrophic people like me to be at relief β each moment was as though the roof would fall down upon me. :P
So the sole purpose of being here was a friend from
Hyderabad who just couldnβt just stop praising about Lazeez for its wondrous Biryani.
His recommendation was what pushed us to savor on the delicacy in Lazeez β when recommendation comes from a guy who
belongs to the place Biryani is known for, try karna banta hai! :D
They have an open kitchen counter setup at the entrance β
where they were preparing the roomali rotis, tandoors. They did also have the shwarma
chicken rolling on the split there.
Glancing at their menu β we learnt that HYDERABADI DUM
BIRYANI has three steps to be ordered.
Choose your base β Chicken
Choose your serving size β Full (serves 2-3)
Choose the quantity of the masala β Medium
My friends opted for the MUTTON BASE HYDERABADI DUM
BIRYANI AND THE EGG BASE HYDERABADI DUM BIRYANI.
And they were drenched in praises for the mutton base
hyderabadi dum biryani.
The egg base hyderabadi dum biryani was good too.
The egg base hyderabadi dum biryani was good too.
Coming to the CHICKEN HYDERABADI DUM BIRYANI β biryani was
accompanied by the masala and raita, both were nullified in the taste domain.
For me the biryani seemed little dry(also may be due to the
absence of both the masala and the raita to eat along) β on second thoughts we
could have opted for the Double masala too. But man, the typical biryani smell
really lingered and led us wanting for more servings. The biryani was topped with boiled slices of egg. The chicken was cooked perfectly - tender and flavorsome
and on a whole the biryani was spicy.
We ordered for a bottle of Thumbs Up to go along with the
biryani β it helped numb the spiciness to quite an extent. J
There is such a demand for their Biryani β that they were out of
the vegetable biryanis by 2130-ish,which forced a vegan friend of mine to go for the DAL KHICHDI which did not look appealing to me atleast, taste was okay-ish too.
We observed more than 80% of the crowd was here for their biryani's only.
