Food anatomization : The Sauteed Stories, Kalyani Nagar - Pune

A perfect example of how space can be utilized plus be made so soothing and pretty to the eyes.

The Sauteed Stories is set up in the alley of the Just Antique shop.
Located on the busy lanes of Koregaon Park between lane 5 and lane 6 - it is a blink and miss if you don't eye for it.

The parking spot is tight, yet there is the place to accommodate about 5-7 two wheeler vehicles.

It is a no door cafe with an antique wooden frame serving as the entrance to the cafe - which is unique in itself.
The small outdoor cafe that it is, yet the cafe has tried to bring about a variance in their seating arrangements - ranging from the high back chairs to the low rise chairs to the vibrantly colored iron chairs with polished wooden tops. Few of their smaller table-chairs were carved in shapes of Coco-cola, Heineken bottles - cute!

Albeit small, the place can easily fit about 20-30 people. Fitting in larger groups is a definite problem since they have only 2 large tables.

The entire place is decorated with fairy lights which bring such a vibe added there are a lot of garden plants in there.
Tucked at one corner is a beautiful setup for two with a shelf on the wall stacked with books, how would I love to spend some quality time here - a perfect spot!
The decor has been tastefully done with detailing, thoughtfulness and a modern day charm.
Be it anything, the colorful hanging antique lamps, to the Buddha statue to the half cut red bamboo adorned on the walls, to the half cut trees placed in the cafe to the typical tap or the cuckoo clock - every bit of the decor is worth falling in love with.
The place is well lit.
Wood and green imbibe a touch of nature to the decor. :)

We were here on a Monday and the place is buzzing with people which itself speaks about the place.

They flaunt of a chalkboard menu and you have to go to the counter to place the order - not exactly a self-service place but placing an order is only at the counter. A first for me in this kind and a bit lame too!

Right behind the ordering counter is their an open kitchen.

We were a group of 7 people, which gave me the opportunity to lay my hands on a variety of dishes. Yeay!!
Started with the POMOGRAPER - a healthy chiller which was a mix of pomegranates, black grapes, and ice - the violet color looked beautiful especially since it was served in the fancy light bulb shaped glass.
Pomegranate and grape juice
The MASALA FRIES were french fries tossed in their in house masalas and Cajun spice - the masala did not appeal much, lacked the chatpata-ness!

The BRUSCHETTA was toasted garlic bread with seasonings, tomato, and cheese - nice, but I have had bruschetta better than this.

Next came in the RATATOUILLE which was a revelation - I would be lying if I would say, I did not order the dish being inspired by the movie. Well, it was different from what we had anticipated, it was their version of ratatouille - a mix sliced baby corn, zucchini, veggies, carrots tossed in a red sauce which were spicy and hot. It was served with 4 slices of garlic bread. The dish had tad bit Indianised flavors flowing in and it was cooked well.

The ROQUETTE and MUSHROOM PIZZA was suggested by the guy taking our order. It was a thin crust pizza with garlic base topped with mushrooms and sauteed roquette leaves. A bite into the pizza and it was sweet with prominent flavors of peanuts in it. There was dressing of balsamic reduction added atop. The pizza was too dry, maybe from th e extra dusting on the dough probably.
We wanted to order for the LASAGNE - but they were left with just one portion of it, alas. 😐

The PIZZA PICANTE was a red sauce based pizza topped with sundried tomatoes, bell peppers, olives, jalapenos, onions and ample amount of cheese  - I did not try this pizza, but it was liked by most on the table than the ROQUETTE and MUSHROOM PIZZA. It was veggie-licious.
The FULLY LOADED NACHOS was topped with loads of cooked beans, cheese, and sour cream and was served with a tangy spicy salsa. Loved the crispy nachos, especially the well-cooked beans.
Our table had mixed reviews on the food and drinks altogether.

The staff was courteous and adheres well to the requests. They were pretty attentive to our table - making sure they didn't flood our table with the dishes. One at a time!

The place is a surprise for an all vegetarian cafe.
