Wanderlust Tales : One day trip to Baneshwar, Ketkawle

After numerous failed attempts at planning a trip around Pune - we finally zeroed down on the nearest places we could cover in the early morning of the day.

Summers in, with the scorching heat, it is impossible to step out post 11 in the day. And there have been repeated warnings issued by the municipal corporation about the rising temperatures and that one must avoid roaming around.

Considering the heat, the warnings - we planned to cover Baneshwar & the Prati Balaji for the day.

BANESWAR DIARIES:

We started off from Magarpatta City at about 6:30-ish in the morning - with the sun just rising, it was a sight as we hit the Pune-Saswad road.
Although, we were running half hour behind our schedule - I am glad despite it being the first of April, it didn't turn out to be a prank.
Once on the ghats, we chanced to view the spectacular sunrise, literally watching the phases of the sunrise amidst the mighty rustic mountains is indeed the perks of waking up early.πŸ˜€
Google Maps are your pal - but do make sure to store the map offline - at many points, you wouldn't catch a reception. Driving through the narrow lanes, the rural areas in the wee hours of the morning itself makes you ecstatic. It is just so peaceful and serene - you wonder what more do you need in life. Definitely, a much-needed break from the fast-paced urban life. πŸ˜™

TRIP:

Through the journey, you would find plenty of shops, restaurants and petrol pumps - so that aspect is taken care of. 😊

Driving through and down the hills gives you the wide angled view of the city beneath. With houses tucked in the corners of the mountains - there are people who are actually living so close to the mother nature. Commendable!

On the way you would find many school going kids asking for a lift to drop them nearby - at one point we caught a small kid of about 5-6 years old with the school sack on his back literally climbing up the mountain to reach his house. It is an everyday trek going to school and returning from school - it is astounding to watch the zeal. Just a glance, and it touches your soul - and makes you thank for ease that you live with.
With the burning heat, the adverse effects can be seen around - what would have been all green, is sadly lying dry beaten strongly by the heat. The colors around are pale mudd-ish on the barren mountains - but amongst all odds, are some trees which choose to bloom - whatever the circumstance be. Can't wait for the rains - when there would be lush greenery all around.

The curvy roads carved out of the mountains are exciting to drive through.
