Wanderlust Tales : Parvati Hill, Parvati Temple

Impromptu plans are the best and when executed well too, gives you a content feeling at the end of the trip - and we felt really ecstatic after our short trip to Parvati.

HOW TO GET HERE:

We got our friends who would be interested in the short trip and decided to leave Magarpatta City by 1800 ish in the evening - of course, we wouldn't attempt the trek on a hot scorching day.

Hence, the evening was the best time.

Google maps were our aid to reach the place - with few glitches we made it to Parvati in about an hour or so. There was immense traffic all along the way.
The parking could be strenuous - but you could park nearby.

PARVATI HILL:

Parvati is a hill located in Pune, about 2100 feet above sea level and atop this hill is the Parvati temple, the Peshawar Museum. It is also a heritage of Pune, built during the Peshwa times.
It is also from here, that you can enjoy the panoramic and aerial view of the city of Pune.

To make your way to the top - you need to climb a total of 103 steps, and as you climb up, you can feel the sloppiness of the place. We were watching out for the railing and using that to make our way up - do make sure to wear comfortable shoes.
As you climb up, there are vast plains on either side blooming with trees. It would be a good rainy season activity. Scenic!

The place was bustling with people from all age brackets - it was nice to see everyone enjoying the evening.

The place is open from 5am to 8pm.

It is quite a relaxation point. You will find many people, coming here for their exercise regimen.

There are multiple temples - Devdeswar temple, Parvati temple, Kartikeya temple and the Vittal temple.
There is a Peshwa museum, where you pay an entry fee of Rs.10/- to gain access to the history of the Peshwa dynasty.
There is a samadhi of Peshwa  Nana saheb - a small darbar made in his memory with tops in the entrance and some paintings depicting the times of war. There was also an interesting map of India from the times of Maratha empire.

They have tried to maintain the place, but a little more effort could be made to protect the heritage of the city. The paints have come off the walls and the temples. Some construction work was starting by 2000ish.

There is a shop which is selling quick snacks, water, and other aerated drinks - quite a savior.
